K9 Ike was struck and killed by a vehicle near the intersection of Race Track Road and Route 50 at approximately 10:00 pm.
His handler had made a traffic stop of another vehicle and was speaking to the driver when K9 Ike was alerted to something outside of the patrol car and jumped out of an open window. Ike was then struck by a passing vehicle.
K9 Ike had served with the Worcester County Sheriff's Office for three years.
