K9 Cooper died as the result of heat exhaustion after being left in his handler's patrol car at the sheriff's office.
Cooper, an explosives detection canine, was left in his kennel inside the patrol car in the morning during a period of cool temperatures and rain. The weather cleared up and the temperature rose later in the day. Cooper's handler discovered him unresponsive. He was transported an animal hospital where he died.
