K9 Eico was struck and killed by a vehicle in the 2100 block of Lilac Avenue.
Eico's handler had stopped to fuel up his patrol car and to allow him to exercise. Eico inadvertently ran onto Lilac Avenue and was struck by a vehicle.
K9 Eico had served with the Davis County Sheriff's Department for two years.

You and I have never met but my late fiancé Dennis was the first deputy killed in the line of duty in Davis County. I remember Dennis telling me if Davis County ever had a K9 he would love to work along side them. Unfortunately, he was killed before that could happen. I like to think that you two have met and you are now both patrolling the streets of Heaven and looking out for all of us down here. Please give my Dennis a kiss for me.
