K9 Balti was killed when the police vehicle he was in was struck by a vehicle on I-35 East at the Laureland Road exit.
K9 Balti and his handler were helping a stranded motorist when their vehicle was struck. Bystanders were able to rescue K9 Balti and his partner before the police vehicle caught fire. K9 Balti died at the scene.
K9 Balti served with the Dallas Police Department for two years.
