K9 Scout succumbed to heat stroke after tracking a fugitive.
On May 26, 2025, K9 Scout searched a heavily wooded area near the 8100 block of South Quay Road in Suffolk for a wanted fugitive. A few hours later, when K9 Scout was distressed, he was transported to Tidewater Animal Clinic, where he passed away.
K9 Scout had served with the Suffolk Police Department for three years. He received an Award of Merit, two Departmental Commendations, and three Departmental Noteworthy Performance Awards.
