K9 Kyro suffered a fatal heart attack after training at 79 Mala Compra Road in Palm Coast around 6:00 p.m.

During a training break, K9 Kyro was placed in the handler's patrol car with the air conditioner on and all emergency alerts activated. When his handler checked on K9 Kyro, despite the air conditioner being on and still cooling the vehicle, K9 Kyro was unresponsive. His handler transported K9 Kyro to an Emergency Hospital, but he could not be resuscitated.

K9 Kyro had served with the Flagler County Sheriff's Office for over one year and was trained in patrol and narcotics detection. He aided in arresting 37 subjects, helped in the detection and seizure of 65 grams of illegal narcotics, and located 25 items of drug paraphernalia.
