View all 12 ReflectionsYou were my grandfather. I never got to know you. I barely got to know my father, your son, Bill, after whom I was named. Bill took a different path than you would have wanted after he lost you. That path led him to federal prison when I was a child. I’ve been told Bill escaped prison, but more likely he absconded parole in the 1990’s sometime. Either way, he couldn’t return to the states without facing more time. He died in a foreign country under a different name before I found the serenity to forgive him for making me grow up without a father, just like him.
I wonder how different our lives might have been if you weren’t taken so young.
I want to meet the Ogle family someday and learn who you were.
