Patrolman Fred Rehmer was killed in an automobile crash while responding to a fight-in-progress call.

He was using his emergency lights and sirens and attempting to pass a vehicle when the vehicle collided with his patrol car. His patrol car was pushed into a tree, killing Patrolman Rehmer instantly.

Fred was my brother's best friend. The two of them would come to my apartment and we all listened to Gordon Lightfoot songs over and over. Fred was such a a kind soul. My entire family loved him and we still miss him 42 years later. RIP
