View all 9 ReflectionsI believe the Special Assignment was for the tragic shooting death of Patrolman Edward Lynch which occurred in the driveway of his home while he was investigating a suspicious person on the block. This was on December 7, 1937. A Footpost was created on the block and neighboring area and on January 8,1938 Patrolman Anthony Tornatore was also tragically shot and killed by presumably the same perpetrator a few blocks from the original slaying. Both homocides were never solved. Rest in peace.
