Traffic Officer Billy Rose was killed in a motorcycle crash on Highway 351 while on patrol at 3:30 pm.
A vehicle turned left in front of his motorcycle, causing him to strike it broadside. He was thrown to the ground and suffered fatal injuries.
Officer Rose was a United States Navy WWII veteran and had served with the Abilene Police Department for 2.5 years. He was survived by his wife and son.
