Officer Irving Rosenburg succumbed to injuries received four days earlier when his patrol car struck a city bus which failed to yield right of way near 13th and M Streets, NW.
He was responding to a shooting call at the time of the accident.
Officer Rosenburg was assigned to the 2nd Precinct and served been with the Metropolitan Police Department for 23 years. He was survived by his wife and two children. He was a U.S. Army veteran and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
