Lester Kenneth Setser

Constable Lester Setser was shot and killed after taking a drunk man home. As he was leaving, the man shot him four times in the back. He was able to return fire but did not strike the suspect.

On September 21, 1951, the suspect, 43, was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.

Constable Setser was a World War II veteran and had served with the Decatur Police Department for two years. He was survived by his expectant wife and five children.

Dear Daddy,
Today is 71 years since you were murdered. So many changes in these past years. By now you have met my husband Doug. It is crazy to know that he got a hug from you before I have, but that's okay::)) I'll get mine soon.
I'm sure he's told you all about your six Great~Great Grands by now: Macie 7; Caedyn 5; Chloe 3; A.J. 6; Brayden 4 and Desmond 1 (our Greats) They are all amazing. You would love them all Daddy.
Life is getting harder these days as I walk alone now without Doug. I'm trying to be strong, but so long for Heaven. For right now I need to be here as long as I can to be with these Greats to love on these every moment I'm allowed::))
So for now I'll say, until we meet for the first time ~ I love you Daddy <3
