Officer Jerrel Shows was struck and killed by a car while assisting an accident victim in Los Angeles.

The accident victim was also struck and critically injured. A 21-year-old driver lost control of his car on the wet pavement near the accident scene and struck both men.

Officer Shows had graduated from the academy only four weeks earlier. He was survived by his wife, son, and daughter.
