Joseph Henry Skrabek

Deputy Sheriff Joseph Skrabek was killed on a rainy morning when he and the driver of a truck hit head-on while driving on U.S. 6, three miles west of Princeton, Illinois.

A 19-year-old female deputy with him was injured. The other driver, 43 years old, was also killed.

Deputy Skrabek was a United States Navy Vietnam War veteran and had served with the Bureau County Sheriff's Department for six years.

47 years ago, and seems like yesterday . You would be proud of our three children, We’ve had our bumps in this life, but they all have turned out to be Wonderful adults. I know in life there are no what if, but what if? You hold a piece of our hearts and you will forever be with us.
