Officer Timothy Smith suffered a fatal heart attack following a run during an on-duty fitness program.
When Officer Smith completed his workout run through Central Park at 40000 Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont and returned to the Fremont Police Station, he collapsed. Despite performing life-saving measures, Officer Smith was unable to be resuscitated and passed away at Washington Hospital.
Officer Smith had served with the Fremont Police Department for five years and previously served with the Marin County Sheriff's Department and the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department. He was survived by his wife, his mother, and a brother.
