Patrolman Curtis Staton was shot and killed after he and his partner responded to a domestic dispute at 2433 Summit Street in Columbus.
Upon their arrival, the male suspect opened the door and shot Patrolman Staton in the chest twice with a .357 caliber handgun. As the suspect attempted to flee, he was shot and killed by Patrolman Staton's partner.
The suspect was on parole for felony convictions.
Patrolman Staton had served with the Columbus Division of Police for two years. He was survived by his wife and three children.
