Police Officer Raymond Timothy succumbed to injuries sustained five weeks earlier when he was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic at the scene of an accident on Highway 8 just outside of the city limits.

No charges were filed against the driver of the car that struck Officer Timothy.

Officer Timothy was survived by his wife, son, and daughter.

I never got to know my grandfather in person. He was killed before I was born. I did get to know the man he was through my father and extended family. It is a travesty what happened to him but the fact that he died helping another person is no surprise. I hold fast to some of the things he left behind knowing that although I never met him, I did get to know him and his memory and values will live on. Thank you all for your kind words. They are appreciated.
