Constable Frank Trask was shot and killed at the town's railroad yard while attempting to arrest a man who was stealing a ride on a train at 12:15 am.

Constable Trask noticed a man trying to hop on the train without paying. He asked the subject to stop, but he did not. Constable Trask fired at the man who returned fire. Five shots were fired in total. Constable Trask was killed instantly. The subject was seriously wounded but recovered from his wound and was charged with murder. He defended himself by stating that he thought Constable Trask was attempting to rob him.

Constable Trask was the Constable of Bisbee and also a Deputy Sheriff. He was survived by his son, daughter, mother, and two sisters. His wife and a daughter preceded him in death.

Constable Trask's son, Inspector Clarence Trask Sr., was shot and killed in the line of duty on April 8th, 1947, in Santa Cruz County, Arizona, while serving with the United States Customs Service.
