Officer Ronald Wainscott was killed in an automobile crash at the intersection of De La Vina Street and West Haley Street while he was responding to an emergency call.
As he entered an intersection his vehicle broadsided another vehicle. The call he was responding to turned out to be a false alarm.
Officer Wainscott had served with the Santa Barbara Police Department for eight months. He was survived by his wife, parents, and sister.
