View all 14 ReflectionsOfficer Willard was my great uncle. I was born in1953 so I never knew him. His brother ( my grandfather) was SL Willard. SL Willard was a NC highway patrolman. He was one of the originals from the beginning. He went on the patrol in 1929 and retired in 1960. He was born in Yadkinville. He retired in Fort Pierce, Florida where I live, and passed away in 1992. I have many stories and memories of my grandfather and his experiences on the highway patrol. These guys were true heroes in many ways. Keith Hedrick, Fort Pierce, Florida.
