Elmer was a friend, his mother Thelma took care of my mom when she was doing poorly. He used to get off the bus at my house from south side school and I can remember people looking at him getting off in a white neighborhood on Glenn Carrie road in hull. We thought it was funny. We remained friends until I was drafted and he joined the navy. When he told me he was joining the sheriff's office, I told him to be careful, the next thing I knew he was gone. Elmer was a very nice guy him and his brothers used to tell me that if any black guys fooled with me to just let them know, funny days. Elmer I still think of you and I hope to see you in heaven.
