John Mathew Maki

Sergeant John Maki was killed in an automobile crash while en route to assist in an ongoing investigation.

He was called in the work from a day off at the request of the police chief to assist in the investigation. Sergeant Maki was driving on FM 544 when he was involved in a collision with another vehicle. He was flown to Parkland Hospital in Dallas where he was pronounced dead.

Sergeant Maki was a United States Army veteran and had served with the Celeste Police Department for 2 years. He is survived by his parents.

On today, the 20th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army in South Korea during the Cold War.
