View all 379 ReflectionsI first met Dave Grant when I was a San Diego County Deputy Sheriff and Dave was an Oceanside PD Officer. We crossed paths many times and worked together on an armed robbery series. Dave went back to Tuolumne Sheriffs Dept. In 1991 I was on a motorcycle trip to Gold Rush country and saw Dave at the Sheriff’s Station. I spent the day on a ride along and he showed me around the area. What fun to get to see Dave again! Dave was a fine man, loved his County, his Department and his family and friends. He was highly thought of by everyone that ever knew him. In 2014, we heard about his fatal on duty accident. Everyone I was working with was devastated by his accident. Dave was selfless in his devotion to duty and was one of the finest men I have ever known. A couple of years ago I was on another motorcycle trip and stayed in Sonora. I went by the Sheriff’s Office and I took a few moments to honor and remember him . I still think about him often. His name still comes up often in conversation with many of retirees that knew Dave. I am pleased to hear about his nephew carrying on in the finest tradition of his Uncle Dave. RIP Dave, you loved and cared for your family and fellow Officers and Deputies. Your legacy and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
