Inspector David Jennings was killed in an automobile accident in Walker County while returning from an investigation involving an explosion in Blount County.
His department vehicle was broadsided on Empire Road in Sumiton, Alabama, by the driver of a vehicle that ran a stop sign.
Inspectors for the Alabama Liquefied Petroleum Gas Board are certified peace officers with full law enforcement powers throughout the state of Alabama.
Inspector Jennings had served with the Alabama Liquefied Petroleum Gas Board for 5 years. He is survived by his wife, son, two grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.
