Lieutenant Delmar Teagan

On the morning of April 13, 2021, FWC recruit class 41 honored the legacy of Lieutenant Delmar Teagan by performing a physical workout created in his memory. Participating in a memorial workout is simultaneously saddening and uplifting. It was, of course, a somber experience to learn of the loss of an accomplished and dedicated member of the FWC family. It was also uplifting that we were given the opportunity to participate in an activity that respected and preserved the legacy of such a prodigious individual.

We were fortunate that we could use this workout to push ourselves mentally and physically, in Lieutenant Teagan’s memory. Lieutenant Teagan’s legacy is one of honor, integrity, and a commitment to service as he ultimately gave his life in service to the people of the State of Florida. Remembering his sacrifice has given this recruit class a greater understanding of how the duties and responsibilities of an FWC officer serve a higher purpose.

The officers who have come before us paved the road of accountability that which we travel upon, and their actions of honor have built the foundations of exemplary character for our law enforcement careers. Lieutenant Teagan’s sacrifice will serve to motivate us intrinsically, by pushing us to be the absolute best that we can be, as individuals and as officers.

To Lieutenant Delmar Teagan, we thank you for your service to the State of Florida and its people.

To the Teagan family, we are the newest additions to your FWC family and look forward to supporting you always, in any way that we can. Your family will forever be in our thoughts and hearts.
