Special Deputy Marshal Calloway Garner was shot and killed when he and a posse attempted to arrest a moonshiner in Hardin County, Tennessee.
The posse had surrounded the house when gunfire erupted, and Special Deputy Garner was fatally shot. A second deputy marshal was wounded.
Special Deputy Garner was survived by his wife and eight children.
