Police Officer John Bond was accidentally shot and killed during a training exercise at the police department's headquarters.
He and two other officers were practicing their "quick draw" when one of the other officers' .38 caliber revolver discharged. The round struck Officer Bond in the upper back, killing him.
Officer Bond had served with the San Luis Obispo Police Department for three years. He was survived by his wife, son, parents, sister, and brother.
