Deputy Sheriff Albert Goos was shot and killed while checking on a car that was parked in a pasture.

He had obtained the driver's license and was walking back to his patrol car when the man suddenly drew a handgun and shot him in the neck.

The 26-year-old suspect was apprehended a month later by FBI agents in Memphis, Tennessee. He was executed in the electric chair on June 10, 1955.

Deputy Goos was survived by his wife and one child.

On today, the 63rd anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Calcasieu County.
