Captain Charles Scavuzzo suffered a fatal heart attack while performing search and recovery efforts following Hurricane Irma.
Captain Scavuzzo had served with the St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office for over 24 years and had served in law enforcement for over 28 years. He is survived by his wife and three children.
