Deputy Sheriff Ellwood Hanrahan suffered a fatal heart attack shortly after struggling with a suspect.
He was assisting another deputy to take the man into custody when the subject began to resist. After arresting the man Deputy Hanrahan began to feel ill. He drove himself to a physician's office. He was then transported to a local hospital where he passed away.
Deputy Hanrahan had served with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office for 18 years. He is survived by his wife and five children.
