Special James James David was shot and killed in the Missouri Pacific Railroad freight yards in Leavenworth, Kansas, when he and his partner encountered two men breaking into a boxcar.
The agents were patrolling the yards due to a recent rash of thefts boxcars. The two men fled and were never apprehended.
Agent David was survived by his wife and two daughters.
