William Joseph Davis

Policeman William Davis was shot and killed as he and his partner questioned two suspicious men at Ridge Avenue and Allegheny Avenue.

One man pulled a gun and opened fire on the officers.

Policeman Davis was a U.S Army veteran of World War I and had served with the Philadelphia Police Department for three years. He was survived by his wife and two children.

On today, the 102nd anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice-not just for your Community but for our Country as well when you served with the U.S. Army in Europe as a member of the 79th "Cross of Lorraine" Division fighting the Germans during World War I.
