Sheriff Harry Dunlap was shot and killed while attempting to apprehend a man on a psychiatric warrant at a farm between Groesbeck and Thornton.
The suspect had barricaded himself inside of his home after being notified he was going to be taken to a state hospital. The suspect was later taken into custody after being shot several times by deputies. He died from his wounds a short time later.

Cooked all the homemade meals for all the folks in the jail & they'd have some regulars who'd come back on purpose just for her food. Harry was kind yet tough.. tried talking to ya first, giving ya a warning, driving ya home if too many spirits in ya, letting ya sleep it off with a fantastic meal in the morn. More serious offenses...he was tough I heard.
