Federal Prohibition Agent Wesley Fraser was shot and killed while supervising the seizure of a still and other bootlegging materials at a home on Fifth Avenue South in South St. Paul, Minnesota.
The raid had taken place two weeks earlier, and Agent Fraser returned to finish the seizure. When the homeowner learned that Agent Fraser was there, he went to the scene and shot him twice. Agent Fraser was able to crawl outside and died en route to the hospital. The suspect turned himself in and was charged with first-degree murder.
On March 1, 1928, the suspect, 46, was convicted of murder and sentenced to life.
Agent Fraser had served with the Internal Revenue Service - Bureau of Prohibition for two years. He was survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son.
