Policeman Ismael Garcia was shot and killed en route to a Police Music-Band rehearsal.
On his way to the location he made a stop at a shopping plaza to make a call to verify the time and place for rehearsal. As he approached a phone booth, a suspect armed with .357 caliber handgun fired four shots at close-range into his back and one fatal shot in the upper-left side forehead.
The subject was apprehended and sentenced to life in prison.
Policeman Garcia had served with the Puerto Rico Police Department for six years. He is survived by his wife and three children.
