Officer David Kohler was killed in a motorcycle crash when a car pulled out in front of him at the intersection of Cloverfield Boulevard and Michigan Avenue while he was on patrol.
Officer Kohler had served with the Santa Monica Police Department for four years. He was survived by his wife, three children, and parents.

One of his fellow officers said of him, "You always felt better when Officer Kohler pulled up on an incident because, while he was a big man, he was also a peace maker." He was only 29 years old and had his entire life (which he loved) in front of him.
I still miss him ....
