View all 77 ReflectionsAgent Pompei, as your 30th anniversary is approaching, I felt the need to express my sadness at never getting a chance to meet you, even though our paths have indirectly crossed several ways. Like you, I was born in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. You in Mahanoy City and me in Pottsville, but both Skooks. I became a police officer in early 1996, about 6 months after your passing, and worked part-time for the Mahanoy City P.D. There in the station, I would see your picture every day but never knew the story of your bravery and sacrifice until approximately 4 years later, when I lateralled to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and heard your story. I was instantly saddened but proud to hear we came from the same area. Years later, I found myself working with your good friend Chris at the D.A.'s Office and was able to learn even more about your amazing life. I wish that when I moved to CA. in 2000, we could have gotten to know one another and shared stories about our careers in law enforcement and our childhoods in Schuylkill County. Rest in peace, knowing the story of your sacrifice, determination and heroism will endure for generations to come.
