Police Officer Daniel Meehan and Police Officer Stella O'Neil-Donahue were killed in a vehicle crash on Roosevelt Boulevard near Cottman Avenue.

Their vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. The two had been investigating the behavior of teenagers in the Pennypack Circle section and were on their way to a restaurant when the crash occurred.

Officer Meehan was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII veteran and had served with the Philadelphia Police Department for seven years. He was survived by his wife of two years.

Thank you for your service.
I believe you were my father's best man at his wedding November 25 1956. I remember my mother tell me about how you died soon afterwards. My daughter is getting married next month and she asked me to get some old pictures of family members who have passed. I looked at the wedding photos of the wedding and I looked at him and decided to look him up. The picture of the wedding party with him will be at my daughter wedding. I will tell everyone his story.
