View all 12 ReflectionsAlthough I didn't know you, my Uncle Bill Arthur had a connection with you. So many years later, I learned that my Uncle Bill had just completed the Amarillo Police Academy. The day this terrible incident occurred was my Uncle Bill's first day out in the field. He was there, probably stunned at your loss and in disbelief that you were killed in the line of duty on his first day out on his own. What an initiation. You inspired my Uncle Bill to continue with a career in law enforcement. With "thanks to you", Sir, the drive inside my Uncle to protect and serve the citizens of Amarillo lead him thru his law enforcement career, until his life ended at age 51 due to heart attack. The people of Amarillo pay tribute to you Sir every day. We walk past the memorial to our fallen officers in the lobby of our Amarillo Police Department on our way to work. Mention of you occurs in our Police Academy as part of the training for every Officer. Thank you for your Service. All gave some. Some gave all.
