Reflections for Police Officer Harold G. Roughley
Great Uncle Harold,
I never had the opportunity to meet you and unfortunately, neither did my dad, George Nelson Roughley. You were my dad's father's brother. However, my dad did pass down to me the few stories about you and that the family was proud of you. One other thing that my dad passed on to me was your Detroit Police badge #77. It broke my heart to see your picture here with that exact badge on. You see, it no longer looks like that. The badge contains three holes in it when the killer pointed the 12 gauge at you and fired, killing you. Thank you for your service and hope to see you in the after-life.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 93rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.
