Dear J.D.:
I write yet another reflection to you at this time of year. 53 years and 1 day ago, you gave your life to hunt for murderer of President Kennedy. As I have told you time and again over the years, by dying that day, you gave birth to another future police officer, one who only knew how to do the job like you..no nonsense, tenacious and dedicated to the people. That 12 year old kid back on 22 November 1963, was sadden at the death of our beloved President, but totally crushed by your death as well. That young boy, until that day, never believed that police officers can be murdered too. So he swore then and there, to become a law enforcement officer someday. And he did.
I hope that your family has peace, though I am certain that this time of year still must be difficult for them. I hope that your children always remember that their dad is an American hero. Thank you, all of you, for your sacrifice for the rest of us as well. I pray Almighty God has kept you close to His heart. My Dad’s cherished words to me upon graduation of the police academy many years ago, I give proudly to you: “Above all else, honor”. Amen
Oh, that 12 year old boy? That’s me.

You are quite the hero, Officer Tippit. I respect and honor you greatly. Oswald was a traitor to our Nation and a coward, I'm sorry that he got the drop on you. But, he was not alone in this job, his gun was not the only gun fired at our President. Research and facts prove this and I believe his Vice-President is paying for that in Hell, as we speak, as is Oswald.
I pray that the Lord has comforted your family all these years and kept them healthy and safe. I know they've missed you greatly. You are a hero, Officer Tippit. America's Hero and may God bless you and watch over you in his Kingdom, forever.

I would suspect Officer Tippit stood vigil at the gates of Heaven as an ambassador of the Thin Blue Line to welcome his brothers of the Dallas Police Department and Transit Police, citing "Blesssed are the Peacemakers". Eternal rest be granted unto all these fine brave men who distinguished themselves with professionalism, integrity, honor and courage. Law abiding citizens mourn your loss and will never forget the ultimate sacrifice each of you made to protect and serve the Dallas community, The Great State of Texas and our Nation. May God craddle all your families, friends, brother and sisters in the law enforcement community in whose hearts you will NEVER be forgotten. God Bless the fallen...
Respectfully,

Officer Tippit is truly one of our nation's great heroes. He risked his life in service to our country, to fight oppression. Then he dedicated his life to protecting his fellow citizens. It is to our great sorrow that he had to give his life to help bring President Kennedy's assassin to justice. Your city and this nation were greatly enriched by his life. I know his wife and children, as well as all of his siblings and other family members must be so proud. Thank you Officer Tippit...

Sometimes, we don't know who a hero might be until he distinguishes himself by valor in a moment of crisis. Officer J.D. Tippit was the kind of hero that helped right the wrongs of this world and made Dallas a safer place to live. His intelligence and instinct during the last moments of his life helped to find a presidential assassin before he could get away. Officer Tippit took very little from life and in return gave all that he had. Dallas is grateful.

J.D. Tippit was a true hero, he gave his life doing his job protecting the people of Dallas. I have always felt that the Dallas Police Dept. should have been honored for the unbelievable work they did in solving the senseless murders of two great men, they had the killer in custody in less than two hours, and never got an ounce of thanks for it. Both officer Tippit and the Dallas Police Dept. have my utmost respect.

I was only 12 years old on that horrible day, and did not learn until later that our nation had lost not one, but two great men.
RIP, Officer Tippit. The lessons of selflessness and dedication you embodied will not be forgotten.

Tippit, you were a special hero. One that gave a sacrifice no one else could give, and that civilian that called for help was also a hero. You were alone only with a few people doing your job trying to question Oswald.
