Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Jason Michael Scott

Sometimes my heart is just too heavy to try to write something so at
times it takes a couple of days before I feel like I can respond. My heart
is heavy for all the victims here cuz there are so many! I feel for the
deputy and his family and for their great loss, but also, because I am a
Mom, I feel for the mother who herself suffered at the hands of her own
flesh and blood and saw him not only take someone else's life, but also
his own. How much pain there is in all of this! To the little baby who will
never experience his Daddy's touch and love, to the wife who must go on
without her husband's help and support, to the parents who should never
have to bury their children, to the siblings, other relatives, friends and
co-workers who must continue with such a void in their lives, I am truly
sorry for your pain. This is God size pain, but Christ is able to carry our
burdens. There is none greater than Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
We don't get to Heaven based on what we do, but what He did for us by
dying on that cross for everyone's sin. AMEN! There is now a huge void
that cannot be filled. God be with all those who mourn and may His
promises lift all those with heavy hearts for many years to come.

PRAYER BEFORE STARTING WORK

My Heavenly Father, as I enter this work place,

I bring Your presence with me.

I speak Your peace, Your grace, Your mercy,

and Your perfect order into this office.

I acknowledge Your power over all that

will be spoken, thought, decided, and done within these walls.

Lord, I thank You for the gifts You have blessed me with.

I commit to using them responsibly in Your honor.

Give me a fresh supply of strength to do my job.

Anoint my projects, ideas, and energy,

so that even my smallest accomplishment

may bring You glory.

Lord, when I am confused, guide me.

When I am weary, energize me. When I am

burned out, infuse me with the light of the Holy Spirit.

May the work that I do and the way I do it bring

faith, joy, and a smile to all that I come in

contact with today. And oh Lord,

when I leave this place, give me traveling mercy.

Bless my family and home to be in order as I left it.

Lord, I thank you for everything You've done,

everything You're doing, and everything You're going to do.

And when time comes to finish my tour of duty and

come home with you, give my family the strength to carry on

in my absence knowing that I left here doing what I loved to do.

In the Name of Jesus I pray, with much love and Thanksgiving..... Amen.

To the Family, Friends, and co-workers of Deputy Scott, know that Deputy Scott did not die in vain. He served three years on a a good department serving a good community. It is not in vain when you look at the lives he has touched and changed in 3 years.

Deputy Scott, Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice for the people that you protected and served. Thank you for the time you spent going places others feared to go and doing things that others feared to do. Sit next to each rookie as they start their lives on the blue line, and make each one more aware of what is going on around them. Tuck your wings in your vest and walk the streets of heaven now, ramble here to earth when you wish to visit. God Speed my brother and God Bless.

The policeman stood and faced his God,which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?
The policeman squared his shoulders and said.
"No, I guess I ain't because those of us who carry a badge can't always be a Saint."
I've had to work most Sundays
and at times my talk is rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...
though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got to steep.
And I never passed a cry for help
though at times I shook with fear,
and sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much, but if you don't...I'll understand"
There was a silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman.
You've borne you burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets.
You've done your time in Hell"

Deputy Scott, I just saw on the news less than an hour ago that the person responsible for your death was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a lengthy standoff. I am thankful that no more officers were hurt or killed while attempting to apprehend this subject. My heart is heavy at the thought of you never getting to hold your unborn child. I know you will watch over him/her, and that will comfort some of us, but it's not the same. I pray that he/she will grow up knowing that their father was a hero who put his life on the line for people everyday and, on his last day on Earth, made the ultimate sacrifice. God Bless you, Deputy Scott...may you rest in peace.
