to the parents and son of det. james zadroga, i have been trying to leave a reflection for every fallen officer, now that i have a computer. eow for my son-in-law, jeffrey t hewitt was 04-04-04. one does not realize the pain, hurt and sorrow a family goes through until they lose a member of the law inforcement family. when i came to james' name and begin to read that he was at the twin towers on 9/11, i truly sat here for a few moments, trying to comprehend all that you,the families of victoms, the many that sacrifiiced their lives that horrible day. and how we all have wonderd how such a thing could have happened in america. as i have told other families when their loved ones reached heaven,i know that god was standing with open arms to hold them close, with fallen officers standing there saluting another hero's homecoming. for james and all the others who gave their lives for us on 9/11, that they were presented god's very on medal of honors. ones that eyes have never seen. my heart hurts with you. and i salute each and every policeman, fireman, medical personel and anyone who lay their life on the line on 9/11,and every other day. as the holiday's and the first anniversary of james' passing may the peace of god be ever present with each of. greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for his brother . you will forever be in my prayers. carolyn moore

If anyone should ever have any doubt as to what being a "hero" means then they should read about James. He was obviously a great officer. I can only say to his family "thank you". He and his fellow officers who paid the ultimate price, will NEVER be forgotten. I work in Texas and he's in New York but that doesn't matter one bit, he's my brother officer and he'll be missed. Rest in peace James, job well done.

Wow, his story is really amazing and you should all be very proud. I didn't realize there was so much harmful exposure after 9/11, but it just goes to show how nothing can deter a Hero.

To a great Detective, a great friend and an amazing person. Jimmy, we will all miss you. For your histerical thoughts on life, your loud snores or the crazy things you taught us. You were a one of a kind partner which anyone who knew you well would know why I would say that. You kept me safe from harm everyday while we were doing "God's Work" You always called me the little "Princess" but you were definitely a "King" for all you did for so many people. We took crazy chances with our lives to do our job, but we were never sorry. I know you are up there looking back on all of us smiling and cracking some joke that leaves us scatching our heads. :) You made an impression while you were here which no one will forget. Thank you for being in my life and being a partner I will never forget. I promised you to tell Tyler Ann everything when she gets older and I will.

First we would like to thank all the people who left their reflections for our son Det. James Zadroga.
Jimmy all we can say is we miss you so much we cry everyday for you. Tyler ann misses you so much she'll go under the table and cry. Tyler ann is doing well, she's going to day care but really really misses you. When me and your dad cry she comforts us and tells us not to cry she is an amazing little girl at 4 comforting us. I still cannot believe you are gone. Oh yeah also your favorite cousing Timmy was killed by a drunk driver in July maybe you already met him or will soon meet him. We love you and always will and you will always be our baby.
I keep asking why you? Then the answer comes to me because you were a true police officer and a caring person.
rest in peace our son.

Jimmy "Z" was a stand up guy, "Good People" like we used to say. I remember when he first got on the job and he would take a bunch of us from NJ out in Manhattan. We also had great times on Lake Hopatcong on Howie's boat. I'll always remember those days. Jimmy, I want your parents and brother to know that if they ever need anything for your daughter to call on us Jersey Boys. We will always be here for you. Rest in peace brother.

Jimmy was a true gentlemen. I had the pleasure of working with him for a few short years in Downtown Manhattan in the mid 90's. Jimmy was a cop's cop and would be happy to give you the shirt off of his back if need be. I know how much you suffered and I know that you are now in God's hands.
May God Bless You and Your Family.

James Zadroga was known by close friends as "jimmy Z" i was a friend of jimmy's for close to 10 years. He was NYPD through and through. I played darts on tues night with him as my doubles partner and teamate. A group of us, almost all in Law enforcement, or former military, spent many fun days and nights on my boat, cruzin lake hopatcong. i miss you every day jimmy. i would like you to know i had a little girl on july 5th 2006, i understand the talk we had and how proud of your daughter you were and how much it ment to hold her. we all miss you and wish we could have a couple hours just to talk and laugh....
jimmy was a true hero, all he talked about was getting on the tac squad and taking guns off the streets, he could of work easy spots but not jimmy.....he was proud to be NYPD TOTALLY! He spent alot of time at ground zero and when his health was at it worst, he told me he would not change a thing if he could, he would still respond and do what he could...your picture will be forever on my wall, for i am proud to have been your friend.
Rest in Peace my brother......we will look in on your family and daughter for you.....

It breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live without the man they loved. From reading all the reflections left for James, it sounds like James was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. Remember that James' life was about so much more than the way he died. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate James' life and the MAN that he was. James will continue to live on in our memories and in the hearts of those who continue to remember him.
As a fellow Canadian and a "survivor" please accept my condolences. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Detective Zadroga. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. If you ever need anything please do not hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.
Detective Zadroga, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been three years since he's been gone but we still miss him terribly.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)
