Ranger Anderson, we will always honor you, your name and your memory . . but mostly we will remember you for answering, when "duty called" . . thank you Ma'am for protecting all of us . . thank you for walking the path of the warrior . . . and now, there is a mission at hand, and that is to track down your murderer, and hopefully, be able to dispense immediate and final justice. We'll close ranks on our thin blue line, but will never be able to replace you . . rest easy Ranger Anderson . . we won't forget . .

Dear family of Margaret Anderson,
I am grieving for you and your daughter, wife, mother. I admire Margaret although I never met her. Being in law enforcement is a very tough assignment although very rarely in the National Parks does it carry a risk of death. Early in my career with the National Parks, I worked to assure that women achieved equal opportunity to enter these jobs formerly assigned only to men. Margaret died in the line of duty protecting the natural heritage of the United States, a cause worthy of the greatest sacrifice. But I am so saddened especially that her small children must suffer this loss. With sympathy, Becky Mills
Rebecca Mills, retired Superintendent.

This is so sad for the NPS and LE eveywhere. Not one day into this new year and our hearts break again. As the mother of a police officer shot and killed in the line of duty in 2011, I know the road ahead is a tough one.
My thoughts and prayers to all involved. Know that you are not alone in your sorrow.
