Reflections for Police Officer Brian Wayne Jones
Brian:
I spent the morning talking with Rebekah after my night shift last night. The kids are starting to smile again. It's something most of us haven't seen since you left us.
I had the privilege of backing you up a few times, and I'm happy I actually got to meet you.
Keep watch over all of us.
God's speed brother.

I miss you so much. Remember the day the calf was born? I can hear you coming into the barn saying "Ah, yuck!" I'm so glad you got to live your dream. You were always protecting people even when you were a tall gawky teenager. I'll always remember your laugh, your quick smile and how we broke mom's table playing spoons.

I am Roger Lynch's sister. It is with much respect and sadness that I add my condolences today. I pray that your family- although never the same has moved on and is happy. I know that "you Brian" would want that. I pray that your children have grown up big and strong and that they are a fine example of their loving daddy as well as their dear mama. Rebekah, our family knows your pain too well. You are in our prayers especially today. I don't know if you knew- but today was also Roger's birthday. I believe with all my heart that Brian and my brother are enjoying heaven with a joy that we have yet to know. Some day we will all be together again. With (((hugs))) and prayers. Judy Coleman

I remember in the HBN course when you told us the story of you taking the tractor and harvesting the corn! That was an awesome story! Made everybody in the room laugh! I didn't get a chance to ride with you, but I did have the pleasure of taking with you in several occasions and getting to know you! Thank you for the great memories!

Hey Brian. I was thinking about the night when I was a rookie and my FTI made me ride with you in hopes of getting a DUI for the check off sheet. We never got one, but I remember that night and our conversation like it was yesterday. I also remeber you using the word "stinkin" like it was your middle name. Miss You.

Your wiliness to serve and protect our country is evidence thru your actions. You proudly became a member of the 1% who steps forward to serve in the military. One mission was completed you traded in the Navy blue uniform for another uniform to protect and serve your country. Thank you and my God welcome you home and protect your children and wife.

I can only imagine the pain you are going through. I hope you will take comfort in knowing that Brian’s love for you will live on forever. You and your children will be in my prayers and I promise you Brian, his service and sacrifice will not be forgotten.
To Bryson, Mariah and Kyler
I hope someday you will understand that your father died protecting the freedoms most people take for granted. As you grow up, never question your father's love for you. He died doing his very best to make the world you will grow up in a better, safer place.
To my brothers and sisters of the Norfolk Police Department
My heart goes out to all of you. Go forward with the knowledge that you are filling in the gap of the Thin Blue Line left by Brian’s death. I know you will carry on the mission;, following the example of professionalism Brian’s sacrifice provides. You know how important our role is in keeping our community safe.

It's a tragic shame that police officers are killed in this country by the same people we are hired to serve and protect. We don't like it, but expect this when our military goes to war and are killed by enemy forces...... however these are our own citizens who are killing our police officers......terrible! I have attended too many funerals and I pray all who have fallen in the line of duty are given a special place in the after life...they have earned it !

I had not known Brian on a personal level outside work, but I did have the pleasure of working with him on several occasions. He always was proactive, helping everyone in the community and treating everyone with respect. He would always focus on juveniles, trying to get them on the right track in life. He was the first person I had ever met that nobody had anything bad to say about, ever. After his death, I heard so many great stories about how he didnt even have TV in his home because he did not want his children influenced in the wrong way. All around great guy and awesome father. So unfortunate what happened that night... May his wife, children and family find peace...

So sad to have heard this news today, I wish to thank you for your service, although I am writing you from Canada, you have served the community where my sister, brother in law and two kids live. I truly thank you for keeping them safe, putting your life on the line and suffering the ultimate cost. For your family I can't begin to understand but be sure the family of police for you stretches far. My prayers go out to your family, may they be strong during these hard time.
