I found out about the loss of Robert “Mac” McKeithen while on shift last night. I recently left that area to start at a new agency a month ago. I remember sitting and having coffee with him about a week before I left. I had known Mac for over a decade and will always remember him as a good officer and great friend. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the officers of the Biloxi Police Department. May God keep and hold his family in his protective arms and give them strength and comfort in this difficult time.

The Gulf Coast is my home. When I left the Coast in 1991 for a federal law enforcement career,I left behind many friends on the Biloxi and Gulfport Police Departments and the Harrison County Sheriffs Department. I did not know Officer McKeithen but, when he fell on May 5, 2019, a part of me fell with him. My prayers and condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

A police officer should be remembered not by how he died, but how he lived! A great man has gone to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you to you, your family and the Biloxi Police Department. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace Brother!
