Reflections for Sergeant Elio Diaz
We miss you every day, Papi! I can't believe 1 year has already gone by... it doesn't seem possible. We got together and had some coffee. You raised a beautiful family, and we'll continue to look after them, just as you would have done for us. We love you, brother! Gone but not forgotten!

Elio my Brother, many times I have come to this page to leave a comment and not been able to. My heart breaks when I see your page and think about that day. You were just trying to help someone you did not know (which was common for you) when that selfish individual decided to turn on you.
I will always remember you coming to work with a smile and a thermos of Cuban coffee, not for you, but for your Brothers and Sisters. You were always happy about being at work and finding opportunities to help anyone in the community who was in need. You were a great man with a big heart and we all lost an amazing Brother that day. Not a day goes by that someone isn't talking about you, which is a testament to who you were and the legacy you left behind. Rest in Peace Brother.

Heartbroken to hear about the passing of my classmate, Elio Díaz. He gave his life while on duty and leaves behind a wife and children. Elio was a kind and dedicated man, and it’s devastating to see his life cut short in this way. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this unimaginable time.

It's sad that both the wife and children won't be able to see him ever again because someone wanted to kill him over a traffic stop. May he rest in peace.

I came across your story while searching for other friends on this page, and was startled to see that we shared a badge number. I was #2962 when I was with a sheriff's department (I have since switched over to a municipal PD).
May you rest in peace and may your family and friends be comforted in their sorrow until you are all reunited in a better place than this.

Tonight I visited the place where a Memorial was set up for you Sgt. Diaz. I live a few miles from where this horrific incident took place. The county is left with a hole in their heart. I never had the pleasure of meeting you but I can tell that you made an impact in the community. May God look over his family. I’m so sorry this happened, what a shame.

Sergeant Diaz,
I'm so very sorry to learn of your passing, especially during this time of year. This year seems to have been hard for law enforcement. I will pray for your wife and four children, as well as the rest of your family, friends, loved ones and colleagues. Rest in peace.

Sergeant Diaz, our world is full of evil people, and yet, for many years, you dedicated your life to protecting others that they may be safe. Our Lord, who sees all and knows all, will reward you abundantly for your courage, dedication and selfless service. My heart breaks for the sorrow that your loved ones are experiencing. May God immerse you and them in His Divine Mercy. Rest in peace, good and faithful servant.

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.
