Dear Chief John R. Batiste:

I hope this reflection finds you well, though I understand it is an incredibly tough time for you, and everyone connected to your department. I am writing to extend my heartfelt sympathy and deepest condolences for the loss of Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting, a brave and dedicated professional.

The news of Trooper Guting’s death has deeply saddened me. The sacrifice that she made while protecting and serving your community is a testament to the selfless and courageous nature of law enforcement officers like her. We can never truly understand the risks and challenges faced by those in law enforcement, and we are forever indebted to them for their unwavering commitment to keeping us safe.

Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with Trooper Guting’s family and colleagues during this immensely challenging time. Their loss is immeasurable, and I can only hope that the outpouring of support from the community can offer some comfort in these trying times.

In times like these, we must remember the positive impact Trooper Guting had on countless lives throughout her life and career. The memories of her dedication, kindness, and professionalism will remain etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege to know her.

To you, Chief Batiste, and the entire Washington State Patrol, I want to express our gratitude for the vital work you do each day, often in the face of danger and adversity. The sacrifice of your fallen colleague serves as a stark reminder of the dangers that come with your line of duty. Despite the risks, you continue to serve with integrity and unwavering commitment, and for that, we are immensely thankful.

Having served 45+ years as a Law Enforcement Professional, I stand with you during this time of mourning. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there is anything I can do to support your fallen hero’s family, you, and your department during this difficult period.

May the memories of Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting, a brave and dedicated professional, be a source of strength and may her legacy inspire others to follow in her footsteps of honor and service. We will forever be indebted to the sacrifice she made to keep us safe.

Trooper Guting, a police officer should be remembered not by how she died but by how she lived! A brave woman has left to secure a safe path for the rest of us to follow. Thank you for your 1 year of commitment to law enforcement, your family, and the Washington State Patrol. Our country is a little less safe without you. Rest in Peace, Sister!

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.

There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

God of Justice, I am grateful for the lives and sacrifices of all America’s Peace Officers. They died serving us. Help us never forget. Help us celebrate their lives and honor their sacrifices. Be with the families, friends, and comrades of these fallen peace officers. Comfort them and give them Your strength and peace. Guide us as we seek to take care of the families of these fallen heroes. May we care for them with integrity. In commemorating the deaths of these fallen heroes, help us also to remember that death is not the end. Death does not have the final say but is simply the transition from this earthly life to the heavenly life yet to come. This assurance was guaranteed to all believers upon the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. We look forward to that life to come with joy and anticipation. Thank You, Lord God, for hearing this prayer. In the mighty and holy name of the Lord Christ Jesus, and by His Power, His Authority, and His Sacrificial Blood, I believe and pray for America’s Fallen Peace Officers and all those left behind. Amen.

God’s Mission for Law Enforcement:
The Apostle Paul wrote to the Romans in a Letter: “For the policeman does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him. So if you don’t want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he will have you punished. He is sent by God for that very purpose.” (Romans 13:3-4 TLB)

Please find Comfort, Support, and Hope from the following Scripture Verses found in ‘The Law Enforcement Officer’s Christian Standard Bible’:

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord asking: Who will I send? Who will go for us? I said: Here I am. Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)

[Jesus taught]: “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons [children] of God.” (Matthew 5:9)

[Jesus taught]: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)

[Jesus taught]: “No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

“Even when I go through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no danger, for you are with me; your rod and your staff—they comfort me.”
(Psalm 23:4)

“Jesus said to her [Martha], “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live.” (John 11:25)

“Hate evil and love good; establish justice at the city gate.” (Amos 5:15a)

“For he [God] will give his angels [Michael the Archangel and his angels] orders concerning you, to protect you in all your ways.” (Psalm 91:11)

“Then war broke out in heaven: Michael [the Archangel] and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels also fought, but he could not prevail, and there was no place for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was thrown out—the ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the one who deceives the whole world. He was thrown to earth, and his angels with him.” (Revelation 12:7-9)
