A quagmire never seems to let up. Its puzzling nature seems to surround us daily whipping up its evil and sheer adversity. You stayed a calm and collected as possible, Officer Cook, to offer Dade County and its residents the opportunity to remain safe and as secure as possible while you directed other fellow officers through these mazes of danger and obstruction. Paths and trails of trust and truth getting blocked by one man set on a course of destruction and he had to be stopped immediately. Your life and career were making the ultimate sacrifice as you donned a badge and uniform designed to create tranquility for mankind. Unfortunately things went wrong that day but you saved your fellow officers and citizens who very lives were endangered. An angel of bravery who patrols the golden streets and gates above. The citizens of Dade County have not forgotten your mannerisms and smile. They were apart of your humble and honored personality so geared towards preserving the quality of life. Heroism and humility all sustained your life as did your remarkable integrity, commitment and dutiful dignity which all battled an adversary so great yet so dangerous. What Mr. Pearsall did to you on May 16, 1979 was heinous and quite ignominious. Officer DiGenova and Edgerton along with your last partner, Scott Lincoln were all fortunate to survive such a monsoon of maniacal chaos and terror. We don't forget and you were and always will be your family's champion of aspirations and inspirations carrying their pursuits of peace, health and happiness forward as part of your legacy that continues to influence the world as we deal with these fires of torment and turmoil.
