Rich Miller was a dedicated, aggressive, hard-working officer that died doing the job that he loved. His determination and courage are an inspiration to all.
I was in my first full month as a police officer and was sent to meet up with Rich (along with my training officer) to serve as his "pick-up car." Unfortunately, before we got to his location, the shooting took place. Later we arrested one of the suspects in the vehicle, pulling him out of a trash bin.
I will remember him and his dedication as long as I live. God rest your soul, Rich...

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 39th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. You will always be honored and revered. I pray for solace for all those who love and miss you for I know the pain and pride are forever.

Rest In Peace
